Cats in general come in just about any colour, pattern and
eye-colour possible. Norwegian Forest Cats, in particular, come in just
about any colour, pattern and eye-colour you care to
mention. The only exception to this is that the Himalayan (Siamese) pointed
pattern is not allowed. There are the so-called
"X-colours", colours currently unrecognised in the NFO
standard in Australia, although now becoming accepted in various European NFO standards.
These are chocolate, lilac, cinnamon, and fawn, which are considered highly unlikely to occur in pure-bred NFOs
without cross-breeding with some other breed.
So the question becomes, "How should we describe the various colours and
patterns seen in NFOs?"
FIFe (Fédération Internationale Féline)
uses a system widely known as the EMS ("Easy Mind System").

The EMS code system consists of a 3 letter code for the breed of cat (Wegies
have been assigned 'NFO'), followed by an alphabetic code describing
colour. This may be followed one or more numeric codes,
describing coat-patterns, eye-colours, tail-types (although tail-type codes
are not used for Wegies), etc...
The following tables describe all the codes that are currently used for Norwegian Forest Cats.
